It’s 2007, and you’re sitting on the floor of your room, the glow of your chunky Dell laptop lighting up your face. You're wearing an oversized hoodie with the sleeves pulled over your hands. The smell of Lip Smackers vanilla chapstick lingers in the air. Your MySpace profile song is playing—probably something by Paramore or Fall Out Boy. You just finished customizing your Top 8, debating whether to swap your best friend for your latest online friend from that forum you’re obsessed with. Your flip phone vibrates. It’s a T9 text from your friend:"Omg new AIM icon… meet me in our chat room!! lol xD" You jump over to AIM, changing your away message to: "Listening to music. If u need me… you know where to find me ;)"Then you spend the next hour in a deep MS Paint doodle battle with your bestie, laughing at the ridiculous sparkle GIFs you keep sending each other.Outside, the streetlights flicker on, and you hear the faint jingle of an Ice Cream Truck, but you're too invested in the internet world to care. Life is simple. Life is good. 💖
